Expansion 01 In the works

The Business Expansion

Fancy a business of your own? Choose from a range of businesses, take on a unit, give it a name, fit it out and open the doors.

Run it yourself, the same as the jobs: every kind of business has its own work to do, and it's up to you to serve your customers, keep the stock in and the rent paid. Leave it shut and nobody comes, but the rent still goes out. The bubble tea shop in the trailer is just one of them.

    Take one on

    Hopkins Lettings lets business premises too: a market stall to start, then a unit on Station Road, then the High Street.

  2. 02

    Give it a name

    Paint the sign, pick the awning and the paint. Make it yours.

  3. 03

    Fit it out

    Counters, kit and seats from the trade catalogue, placed exactly where you want them.

  4. 04

    Do the work

    Every business has its own. At the bubble tea shop: cook the pearls before you run out, shake it, seal it and call their name.

  5. 05

    Take on staff

    Interview, set the rota, and leave someone minding the shop while you're out.

  6. 06

    Tell the town

    Leaflets through letterboxes, a billboard, an advert in the Gazette. Then earn your stars in the reviews.

    Saturday cart

    Take a cart to the market in Victoria Park. Some Saturdays are better than others.

    Watch it grow

    Better kit, a bigger menu, regulars with a usual, and a manager when you're ready.

Expansion 02 Next

Saundersby

The seaside town at the end of the line. Take the Coastway from Kettleby, past the beach huts at Cliffe End, and step off the train by the sea.

Its station is already there at the end of the line: the clock tower, the canopies, the promenade on the clifftop. Next comes the town around it, starting with a day out at the seaside.
